Sync your BlackBerry with Google Calendar

For those of you who are using Outlook or Lotus Notes, this may not apply. However, there are many of us that use the Google calendar as our primary calendar or secondary calendar. I like it because it is easy to share with other people and it is completely web based. Oh by the way, It also works great.

My problem started when I wanted to sync my BlackBerry with my Google Calendar. I thought... this should be easy, Google or BlackBerry should have something already in place. I quickly found out that it wasn't going to be that easy. I sifted through several different software that claimed to do this Google/BlackBerry trick. None of them worked out of the box. In fact, most of them didn't even sync at all. Until I found a little diamond in the rough.

It is called Goosync. Goosync is a great program that just works. There is very little setup except for the third party "SyncJe Client" program that you have to download and configure. Once you are configured, all of your appointments and meetings can be set to sync automatically. The SyncJe Client cost about $35, but Goosync is free unless you want the premium version. The price tag is worth it when considering the headaches that you will go through to get other software to work.

I have also heard good things about "GCALSync", but when I installed it I quickly noticed that it was not quite ready for prime time. I couldn't get the date and times to align. It is very possible that in the near future, this program will be very good as well.

Happy Syncing Googlites!
